What's included in this bundle?
There’s no guidance included in this resource bundle - just the following 6 editable quiz documents containing 10 multiple-choice questions each. They cover the following safeguarding aspects:
- Physical, Sexual and Emotional Abuse and Neglect
- Child-on-Child Abuse
- Child Criminal and Sexual Exploitation (CCE and CSE)
- Child-on-Child Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment
- Online Safety and Abuse Occurring Online
- Working with Others to Safeguarding Children
Created from the most up-to-date information from the 2024 KCSIE, each quiz document contains 10 challenging questions that ask staff to recall safeguarding information and identify safeguarding issues. For example:
How can the use of online technology facilitate physical abuse?
a) It can’t; physical abuse can only occur in person.
b) It can include watching violent videos or playing violent games.
c) It can be used to threaten and/or encourage physical abuse.
d) Pupils are more likely to get physically punished by parents/carers when using the internet too much.
What is abuse in intimate personal relationships between children?
a) When teenagers have new and consensual sexual experiences with each other
b) A form of domestic abuse that occurs in teenage relationships
c) When revenge occurs after a teenage relationship ends
d) When young children explore their bodies, e.g. showing another child their sexual organs
Which of the following is false about child sexual exploitation (CSE)?
a) It is a form of sexual abuse.
b) It can include non-contact activities, such as forcing a child to watch sexual content.
c) Children who are 16 and 17 can consent to having sex so children of this age cannot be sexually exploited.
d) It can be a one-off occurrence.
They also complement the questions available in the Safeguarding Quick Quiz Bundle 1. While some themes (e.g. types of child abuse) are covered again, none of the questions are repeated, meaning that you can use both bundles to build your own bank of unique and challenging safeguarding questions to use at different times and with different groups as you see fit.
Each quiz contains the answers for the DSL as well as some suggestions for why staff may believe some incorrect answers to be correct. Safeguarding leads can use the quizzes in several ways, such as:
- On an online quizzing platform, which can help you to swiftly analysis the results
- During staff meetings, briefings or other team meetings
- As part of INSET days or twilight sessions
- Following a safeguarding training session
- With ECTs, trainee teachers, volunteers or staff members with less experience so you can create further bespoke training for them
- Following safeguarding incidents where you want to ensure staff have the necessary knowledge to keep children safe
You can choose from the range of questions to create your own bespoke assessment or use them as they’ve been designed - each one is fully editable so it can work best for your setting and context. For monitoring and quality assurance purposes, quizzing staff on safeguarding can be a good way to show that you’re checking their knowledge is secure and responding to any gaps in knowledge with further training.
