What's in this ready-made safeguarding training set?

This set contains ten resources drawn from Part One of KCSIE 2026. There's no fixed order and no requirement to use everything at once – dip in as your school's needs and calendar allow, or follow the suggested six-week structure in the guidance document. You'll get:

☑️ Four safeguarding scenarios (editable Word documents)

Each scenario is a realistic, fictional situation written from a staff member's perspective – the kind of situation a member of staff might genuinely encounter, presented without an obvious label so staff have to think about what they're seeing, just as they would in real life.

A separate DSL commentary page accompanies each scenario, covering the key concerns the situation raises, guidance on next steps and reflective discussion points. Four structured prompts guide the conversation, making scenarios straightforward to facilitate in a staff meeting, briefing or small-group session.

Scenarios are written to be age-neutral and gender-neutral (wherever possible) to avoid assumptions and reflect the reality that safeguarding concerns can affect any child. Where a scenario covers content that presents differently across age groups, the appropriate version is included in your pack – primary or secondary – automatically.

Set A scenarios cover:

  • Staff Concerns – Dismissing Child-on-Child Abuse
  • Child-on-Child Abuse (Sexual Harassment)
  • Neglect (Inappropriate Supervision and Basic Needs)
  • Child-on-Child Abuse (Upskirting)

☑️ Four safeguarding snapshots (PDF documents)

Each snapshot is a one-page, read-and-absorb resource covering signs and indicators, risk factors and suggested actions for staff. Because they don't require a facilitator to work, snapshots are one of the most flexible items in the set – email them as a bulletin, display them in staff areas, upload them to your intranet or include them in induction packs.

Set A snapshots cover:

  • Child Mental Health
  • Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)
  • Physical Abuse
  • The Prevent Duty

☑️ Two quick quizzes (editable Word documents)

Each quiz contains multiple-choice questions on a specific safeguarding area, with full answer guidance and explanations for the DSL or training lead. Use them as an online form with a tracked deadline, a poll in your staff Teams or Google Chat, a discussion activity in a meeting, or a follow-up to a scenario to check whether the key learning has landed.

Set A quizzes cover:

  • Roles and Recognising Abuse
  • Child-on-Child Abuse and Bullying

You'll also get:

  • A guidance document with delivery ideas and a suggested six-week structure
  • A pre-populated training log for recording staff engagement and evidencing coverage

Who is this safeguarding training pack for?

This set is designed for DSLs who are responsible for planning and delivering ongoing safeguarding training throughout the year. It's particularly useful if you want a varied, ready-curated resource set you can use without having to source or sequence materials yourself.

It works equally well for schools that are new to using this type of drip-feed training approach and for those who already have a structured plan in place and simply need quality content to populate it.

Phase leads, pastoral leads and TA coordinators will also find individual resources within the set useful – particularly the scenarios, which are designed to be facilitated in smaller team contexts as well as whole-staff settings.

How can this set help with ongoing safeguarding training?

This set is designed to support the regular, varied training that KCSIE requires of all schools – the touchpoints that keep safeguarding visible between annual refresher events.

"How do I keep safeguarding training going throughout the year without it becoming a burden?"

The set gives you ten resources with clear delivery guidance, so you're not starting from scratch. The included guidance document suggests a six-week structure, but the resources are flexible enough to fit any meeting pattern or delivery method.

"How do I reach all staff, not just those who attend whole-staff meetings?"

The snapshots are designed to work without a facilitator – they can be emailed, displayed in staff areas or uploaded to your intranet. The quizzes can be set as online forms with a deadline so you can track engagement across all staff groups.

"How do I make sure training feels relevant and prompts real discussion?"

The scenarios are fictional but realistic, written from a staff member's perspective so the situations feel genuinely recognisable. The four discussion prompts with each scenario are designed to draw out practical responses rather than textbook answers.

"How do I evidence that ongoing training is happening?"

The pre-populated training log is included for exactly this reason – it gives you a ready-made record of the content covered, which staff engaged and when, supporting your safeguarding evidence portfolio.
