Safeguarding Scenario: Sextortion

Train staff on sextortion, a form of child sexual exploitation that is financially motivated. Included in this download is one fictional safeguarding scenario where a male pupil shows signs of distress and over time, reveals information that indicates he is being extorted by someone online because of pictures and videos he's sent. The fictional pupil in this scenario is 16 and therefore the resource is more suitable for secondary settings. 

Also included is a guided walkthrough for the DSL or safeguarding training lead which lets you check whether staff can spot the signs of sextortion and know how to respond. It's ideal to use as a discussion point in a staff meeting or INSET. It can also be used in response to safeguarding trends or concerns in your setting to build staff understanding of keeping children safe.
