What's included in this bundle?

There’s no guidance included in this resource bundle - just the following editable scenarios written from the latest 2024 KCSIE that cover 12 different safeguarding aspects:

  1. Radicalisation and Extremist Ideologies
  2. Extremist Viewpoints (Staff)
  3. Elective Home Education
  4. Child-on-Child Abuse (Upskirting / Misogyny)
  5. Sexual Abuse (Familial Threat)
  6. Prejudice-based Bullying (LGBT+)
  7. Incel Culture
  8. Abuse Linked to Faith and Belief
  9. Honour-Based Abuse (HBA)
  10. Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) (Pre-Incident)
  11. Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) (Post-Incident)
  12. Pre-Holiday Disclosures

Each scenario contains the details of a fictional situation that schools might face linked to safeguarding. These can be explored with staff members to ensure they understand the safeguarding issue that’s being presented to them and how you'd expect them to react based on your school’s policies and procedures. As DSL or safeguarding lead, there’s an opportunity for you to then follow up on any areas that weren’t identified.

Additionally, each scenario contains safeguarding scenario answers and guided considerations for the DSL with areas they may wish to discuss, including what concerns and signs staff should recognise and what other areas of safeguarding should be considered.

The templates are fully editable, so you can change names or details to better suit your staff needs or context. To make best use out of the scenarios, we’d suggest only sharing the scenario itself with staff - by doing this, you can check staff understand the safeguarding training they’ve been provided already and gauge how they’d respond if this situation occurred in your setting.

Please note the following disclaimer attached to this resource bundle: These resources address potentially sensitive and/or distressing subjects and are intended to be used for training purposes only. They may also contain strong language as well as terms, themes and content that depict child abuse, neglect and exploitation. All of this could elicit emotional responses and be triggering for staff using them. You must fully read each scenarios before use and it is your duty to carefully assess their appropriateness based on your staff and your context. If you deem each one to be suitable, you must ensure that adequate support is accessible for anyone who may be impacted by the content.

Who will find this resource useful?

What questions does this pack have the answers to?

What else can help me?

Termly safeguarding training is available. Each pack contains scenarios like these, plus quick quizzes, safeguarding snapshots and tailored training timetables. They're designed to complement each other and between them, cover Part 1 and Annex B of KCSIE 2024. This allows you to enhance your current safeguarding training offer and drip-feed training across the year, rather than attempting to cover it all in one session during an inset day.

The scenarios in this bundle form part of the Safeguarding Training Pack - Summer Term, which also contains 12 Safeguarding Snapshots and six 10-question Quick Quizzes. You can purchase these elements separately too:
